Random Sport's Questions

1. If you grew up in LA why would one chose to be a Clippers fan?

The Clippers are basketball on the cheep. Not everyone can afford to be a Lakers live gate fan. The same seat for the Clippers is half price.

2. Why are there so many Steelers fan around the Great Lakes area, yet so few Pirates fans?

Its a football area. The Pirates have never marketed regionally.

3. If college basketball didn't have march madness would it basically be as popular as college baseball?

College baseball will never be a big deal due to the season it has to be played in. Its just a regional sport in the deep South and Southwest on a serious basis.

4. What's more popular........ the NHL in Canada or the NFL in the U.S. ?

The NHL is life in Canada. There are plenty of people in the USA who do not follow the NFL that closely.

5. Distractions aside, who would you take on your team during a World Series? A-Rod or Manny, (both in their prime)?

Neither

6. Why are the penalties so light for fighting in Hockey? In any other sport, you'd be ejected, monetary penalties would be assessed and suspensions would be at stake.

Because its hockey. About every three years, hockey goes through this self-hate period and ruminates about the fighting. Its silly.

7. What makes you a professional fisherman?

Watching other people fish is worse than watching other people play cards. Its is simply not a sport.

8. Are volleyball and tennis the only sport where hitting it into the net is a bad thing?

Hockey, providing we are talking about the net protecting the fans from flying pucks.

9. Why are there 2 college universities within 8 miles of each other in Durham, North Carolina? Isn't that a bit close?

Totally wrong. There are THREE major Division I universities in that area.

UNC in Chapel Hill - The main campus of the state's system of liberal arts colleges. Where the best and brightest of NC go to become doctors, lawyers, accountants, teachers, etc.

NCSU in Raleigh - The main campus in the state's system of technological universities. Where the best and brightest of NC go to become engineers, chemists, veternarians, systems analysists, programers, etc.

NC is not alone in practicing the system of spliting liberal arts from tech (Georgia/Georgia Tech, USC/Clemson, UVa/Virginia Tech, Kansas/Kansas State, Texas/Texas A&M, Missisippi/Mississippi State, etc). Although having both in the same part of the state is unusual.

And, Duke - A private school where richy rich prep schoolers go to act like a**holes at basketball games before going back to New Jersey and being nuisances to society in other ways.

I believe that the actual closest two state colleges to one another are Florida State (which was a school for white females until 1947 and whites only until 1960) and Florida A&M (which was a school for blacks only until 1960 and remains 95% black) which are in the same town about a mile apart and which now share a joint engineering school.

10. Of all of the individual sports rivalries, who would be the greatest: Wilt vs. Russell? Ali vs. Frazier? Jack vs. Arnold? Or someone else?

Woody - Bo.

2. Why are there so many Steelers fan around the Great Lakes area, yet so few Pirates fans?

Because the Steelers "fans" are front-running sellouts.

It's their (the fans) fault they keep winning for pretty much the last 35 years? ;)

"Yeah, screw this. If they keep winning, I'm gonna follow the Lions, or the Browns, or the Bungles."
