Hello - I currently have DishNetwork in an RV; when I store the rv (undercover) the receiver cannot update the software version (which seems to be almost weekly); a call to tech support is then required to force the update and reauthorize.

Question: does DirecTV have a similar process and/or what are the consequences of a extended loss of satellite with a DirecTV receiver ??

Thankyou in advance

Alan

The D receiver will also lose it's authorization if not plugged in for an extended period of time.

May want to consider bringing the receiver in the house and hooking it in when not in use since we all know what a joy it is to deal with either's CSRs.

Basically your receiver, with D*, will lose the channels and the only thing the CSR at D* will have to do is re-authorize the receiver and if it needs a software upgrade it will generally do it automatically less than an hour after it gets satellite signal back.

The automated system at the 800 number will probably bring the channels back when you call without you having to talk to a CSR with D*
