Pacific Northwest, where it rains a lot...
The initial order was "wrapped". And the cast an crew were sent on "hiatus". Takes a LOT more than two or three weeks to get it all back together.

It's all "filmed" digitally, so no celluloid to develop. The cast and crew are under contract, in case it did well and NBC wanted to extend it to a full season, so it can't take more than 10 days to get everything/everyone back up and ready. Writers were likely told a week before the cast/crew were informed to finish the back 9, so they likely have at least 2-3 scripts ready now. No major set construction/destruction is required, post-production folks are already working anyway, so no big callbacks there. So, seriously, it shouldn't take anymore than 2-3 weeks (a month at most) to get 2-3 episodes "in the can" and ready to air. A 4-month hiatus simply isn't necessary...but nevertheless, that's what's going to happen...

And 4 months = death blow. Of course, ABC was just as bad with episodes of LOST. It was off the air more than it was on it.

Exactly. I don't expect it to be renewed for a second season, not after a 4-month hiatus...

I think you are right. The writers of this show must of not expected it to last ,because the premise was not well thought out. They have kind of written themselves into a corner. Either you reveal who is behind the blackout and the reasons why and then end the story, or you continue on with stretching out the boring episodes and the mystery continues. Stretching out the story like LOST did , will definitely kill it, because people don't have patience anymore. Especially if you go off the air for 4 months. I Still say this show would of been better as a mini series with a beginning , middle and definite end. The entire idea of 15 years with no lights or power ,seems to really stretch out the believability.

Well, the premise is interesting...plunging the world back into the 17th - early-18th century is an interesting concept, but it's the execution of the concept that makes or breaks the series. I agree, a mini-series may have worked better, but with a mini, you have to hit the ground with interesting/compelling characters that require little development and focus on the mystery of what happened to the electricity and hope the characters can carry the story (if you can't care about the characters quickly, the premise fails and the mini goes down hill fast).

Revolution has problems, no doubt about it. Characters drive the plot because the mystery of what happened to the electricity is the crux of the story and must be played-out over a long period of time. So, you need to build strong characters to carry the story week-to-week, to keep the viewer interested. Their motivations and reasons for who they are and why they do what they do must grab the viewers quickly. That hasn't really happened here. It's starting to happen now, but it's 6 episodes into the series. If NBC had done a full 22-episode season, this might have worked, but with the characters just making their motives clear now and only 7 episodes left before a 4-month break, the remaining 7 better be extremely good (not likely) or the 4-month break will kill the momentum the show has built...

And does anyone wonder why so many new shows never make it ? Revolution is one of the first non-reality shows we've started watching in a long time because of this. Too many shows, we watch when they're new, like them, and bam ! They're cancelled after a very short run.

I've already been thinking the same as just mentioned about Revolution -- it applied to Heroes, as well -- it's just not a long-term story ! After a while with Heroes, i asked my wife "how much longer can they make this a story ?".

Starting the season early for it's show is coming back to bite NBC, they don't have enough made to start up after the holiday break.

Im gonna delete the timer. It had gotten better, but I was barely hanging, NBC kills me with these long breaks. When you record over 30 hours a week of shows, I dont have time to be jerked around.

I expect Last Resort will be next.

Yes, Last Resort is another story that doesn't have much where to go and would of been better served as a mini-series or a movie. They are trapped on an island with the U.S. military trying to kill them at every turn. Where can they go from here without either giving up or launching the nukes towards the country they want to desperately get back to. How many times can the government negotiate with the capt and his crew before they just kill them all where they stand?

If the Voice is returning the same time that Revolution is in the Spring, then Revolution may actually have a chance for a second season. Is the Voice returning for Spring? They are saying that one big reason that Revolution is doing so good is because they are following the Voice on Monday night.

I guess we learned a little bit more about the pendants and what caused the blackout. Here we go again. Another government power-grab conspiracy. This little bit of reveal makes the 15 years without power more dubious. I'm STILL baffled by the power being able to immediately come back on when a pendant becomes " active " even in remote places where the power grid has probably decayed. The only other explanation is the pendants themselves supply and transmit power. Anyone want to bet that the pendants harness Dark Energy? LOL

Three more episodes until the break though.

Mia is a scumbag and that's the fastest river I have ever seen. I've never seen a boat navigate a 50 mph current. Also, Nora was chubby teenager. I loved the ending with Grade the rogue DoD guy. Next week's episode features music by Led Zeppelin.

Well we have probably seen the big machine that is keeping electricity from working... The question is why is it still turned on? How long are they going to keep it running and why>

Mia is a scumbag, I agree. I just watched the episode and as I was watching I just knew she was not to be trusted.
