A lot of insiders saying the suspension is expected no later than Wednesday. If he's to be a potential draft day trade (unlikely) then it would be nice to know what the damage will be before he's traded.

I think it'd be in the league's best interest to get this over with during the noise of the draft/schedule week, so that the draft can try and overtake the Ben coverage in the days/weeks following.

I hope it's all just rumors and he stays, they aren't going to win a super bowl with Batch or Dixon.

Cy, I hate to tell you this, but if you read the police report......they basically blew the entire case....and the DA knows it, that is more than likely the reason they did not press charges....AND from what it looks like, HIS legal team went BEHIND the back of the DA to strike some kind of monetary deal to boot.

The NFL's legal team is gonna read all of this and I see nothing short of at least 6 games, if not more of suspension time.

there's no doubt he will be suspended. i just hope they announce this today already and get this out of the way.

I thinking 2-4 games.

Yeah, I have this feeling Ben will be traded before the draft, all this anger coming out from the fans is a problem and I think the Steelers might trade him to protect the franchise.

I hope I'm wrong but I can see them doing it, how would it look that Steeler fans boo Ben every time he is on the field. There are reports he might go to a team with two #1 picks like the 49ers.

I don't see this happening at all.
The Rooney's said the other day that they are moving forward with Ben as their QB.

The whole country is bitching about how outragous this is that Ben did , and it is, but they would take about 5 minutes to sign the guy.

The way I look at it, if other teams would want him and I can count about 20+ other teams that would be interested ( he's better than 20+ teams QB's at least) why should the Steeler's give him up.

Probably today. The 2010 schedule is released tomorrow and I doubt they want the both on the same news day....

Now they may wait till after the draft, like they originally were mentioned to do.
Which probably tells you he won't be traded.
IF he was going to be traded, teams would have wanted to know what the suspension was ahead of hand.

IF it's 6 games or anything more than 3-4 he'll (players assc.) challenge it and it will be dropped to around 2-3.

Much like the Vick case.

From what I heard this morning, Ben suspension could be conditional, seeing it's the off season, it's much easier to do that.

Now I am thinking that he will/may be given a larger suspension than initially thought, maybe 6 games with conditions ....
They sent him to classes/schooling whatever, provided he attends and improves, the suspension drops to about 2 games, something like that.

That is how M. Vicks suspension went.
Of course they wouldn't do this type of thing during the season.

So when it's all said and done, I think the suspension will be larger than initially thought with the potential to be dropped to a much lower number by the time the season rolls around.

Just take into consideration what he has done....the police report and the history of what Goodell has done in the past.....IF he gets ANYTHING less than 6 games, other NFL players will go nutz!

How do you know what he did, were you there? I'm not saying he is not wrong for being in this place again but I'm sorry how the hell do you know she isn't making this s**t up to make money?

They didn't prosecute and she dropped the case......Hmmmmmmmm. It's all "She said" that you and others are listening to. If he would of been arrested and found guilty I would of said yeah get rid of him or he is as bad as Vick, he isn't, Vick was found guilty and went to jail.

Hell Ray Lewis "allegedly" killed someone but hey he is the best LB in the league and everyone loves him so it's OK to forgive him and pretend it didn't happen.

For perhaps the first time ever...I totally agree with this guy.

Suspending someone based on he said/she said is a very slippery slope. And if you're going to suspend a football player for being an idiot or a jerk, there will be a long line of players outside Goodell's office waiting for their suspension.

Sandra

Except that I think Ben has admitted to most/all that happened to the Rooneys and Goodell, and the only question was consent. He wasn't prosecuted because of reasonable doubt, not because nothing happened.

The situation and history of poor judgement are why he will be punished.

But the D.A. was referring to HER statements. I'm not a person who believes rape is fine but show me proof.

Let's take these one at a time. How do you know HE is not lying? She immediately reported it to the police.

The did prosecute because they didn't have enough evidence to prosecute. And if you read the police report, there was, to me, enough to prosecute...but they didn't...WHY, listen to the DA and they come this short ---><--- from calling the local police department completely incompetent. AND it sounds like it was HIS legal counsel that went to her to strike a deal. But besides that, if you were to EVER ask any woman if she want the shame of going through a trial where ALL your personal business is out in the open, I am POSITIVE none wanna go through that. Do you know that only 1/3 of actual rapes get reported....ONE THIRD.

Going to your comparisons to Vick is apples and oranges. Ask any cop and they will tell you there are PLENTY of folks that are out on the street that they just don't have either enough proof to prosecute or the right proof to prosecute.

You are thinking with your heart.

Hell Ray Lewis "allegedly" killed someone but hey he is the best LB in the league and everyone loves him so it's OK to forgive him and pretend it didn't happen.

Rey Lewis is a guy that lucked out. He MAY or MAY NOT been involved because they had absolutely no proof on him:

At the trial, the vast majority of testimony was either inconclusive or supported the defense’s contention that Lewis acted solely as a peacemaker. ESPN legal analyst Alan J. Baverman said, "as to Ray Lewis, there is no evidence that he assisted anybody in a stabbing or encouraged anybody to do a stabbing which would make him a party to felony murder, malice murder, or felony assault with a knife

Believe me when I tell you NO ONE has forgiven him because that gets brough up down here ALL the time.

And the NFL is going to punish Ben based on HIS confirmation of some of what the DA said. I am not calling him a rapist, but he's put himself into multiple bad situations due to poor judgement, that is why he will be punished.

I agree....but here is the thing. WE are basing our opinions on what we have seen as far as reports from the police department. But I am sure that Goodell will have the LEAGUE's PI doing some investigating too AND reports from both the DA AND the police department. They will have ALOT more info than what we have.
