If I made a 42" diameter "wading pool" it would be 22' in circumference.
If I look four 8' lengths (16" wide) of masonite and bolted them together (over lapping) I think it would work. It sure would be exciting if it didn't.
Sure will take a bit of water though.
Maybe some rocks or bricks in the middle.......
 
What an interesting project! I wonder what is special about the Arm and Hammer soda because it's not something we can get this side of the Atlantic but I'm sure there is an equivalent if we know what the magic ingredient is?
 
If you read through the bottom reference (Wiki) it says......

Washing soda (sodium carbonate) is usually available in the laundry additives section of better supermarkets. The brand that I use is manufactured by Arm and Hammer. In a pinch, electric dishwasher detergent will work as it is mostly sodium carbonate mixed with sodium silicate (water glass).
