No app required

Every time I go to a site on my phone, and I get blocked by a nag to get THEIR app, I exit.
I'm naturally suspicious of any site demanding I load a program to view it.

Been using SatGuys the last 18 months on the Safari browser of my iPhone.
Works fine. Just have to use landscape mode.
Logged into my account with an iPad 3 (hi Rez screen) last week.
The site works fine in portrait mode.

The old app doesn't let me post well in landscape mode on my iPhone 5. It's like the top line is above the screen and not viewable. Not so with Reader. And now I don't get those ads anymore, so Reader it is.

As an old Portland retailer used to say, "Free is a very good price". Tapatalk works well.

Let's just dump 'em and move on already. If Internet Brands really wants your business, let 'em renew your subscription free-of-charge for a year while you evaluate the new product, support and their roadmap strategy. Otherwise, wipe 'em...toss 'em and flush 'em.

Is there a way to report a post in the new Reader app?

Yes. Touch the screen at the offending post. Several options will come up. On the right side you have three dots ("more"). Press that. The top option is "Report" ... Click on that. Type in the reason in the area provided, then submit.

I use the Satguys App instead of the newer App. I prefer the older App. That is just my own preference. Do what you need to do

Thanks. Don't know how I missed that.

If Scott doesn't pay that gargantuan amount, your app "might" stop working. You can purchase Forum Runner to get it back. I prefer the Forum Runner interface over the Tapatalk interface, too.

As you might know we have TWO different iOS and Android apps.

The original app is based on Technology by ForumRunner, as many of you know ForumRunner was sold to Internet Brands, the same folks who make the vBulletin forum software we use here at SatelliteGuys. Since Internet Brands has purchased ForumRunner the quality of the product and support have gone down hill. There hasn't been an update of the software since Internet Brands took it over.

I have just been alerted that our SatelliteGuys app by ForumRunner is up for its Annual Renewal at the end of May which is coming up fast, the cost is $425 to renew it for another year. At this point I am so upset with Internet Brands / vBulletin / Forum Runner that I am thinking of not renewing the application. if I do this the app will cease to work. In addition at the moment I don't really have the money to spend on the app, as at the moment ad revenue is down almost 70% from this time last year mainly due to the fact that two of our biggest ad agencies OpenX Marketplace went out of Business and Pulsepoint has booted all forums out of its ad network.

I will keep it however if we can raise the funds to keep it around for another year.

With that said we also have our newer Tapatalk based application, this app is available for both the iOS and Android Platforms. This app will stick around no matter if we keep or get rid of the origional ForumRunner based app. And like the other app, it is free to the users. (I have been playing with a new version 2 of the app, which should be out in a few weeks, which I like a lot.) :)

So I am asking you the members, what should we do? Keep it or dump it?

Thanks for your feedback!

Internet Brands ruins everything it touches. Dump it quick.

I didn't renew the Dishretailer.com app several months ago. It worked for like 60 days after it expired and that was it.

I like the forum runner app, but not for $600

One major problem with the tapatalk based apps is when lokking at "forums" you cannot tell which forums have unread posts unless you enter the forum and look for bold threads.

Yeah. $1.99 is a much better price. This one also gets updated a bit more than the "branded" ones.
