SatelliteGuys Review: Logitech Revue with GoogleTV – A Diamond in the Rough

I recently purchased the Revue. I have a Bose system with DVD and a Video System Enhancer (VS2) which provides my HDMI ports (my TV does not have HDMI). Can anyone tell me how to connect this?
This may not work as the VS2 can't answer the HDCP query on the TV's behalf.

I'd try plugging the Revue in between the satellite receiver and the VS2. If that doesn't work, you're hosed until you get an HDMI (or DVI-I w/HDCP) display.

As I said, if you plug the Revue in between the DISH receiver and the VS2 and it doesn't work, your pretty much hosed.

More useful than pictures of the VS2 would be the make and model of your display and whether or not it supports DVI-I w/HDCP. Many front projectors and some of the better CRTs did.

BTW, the manual for the VS2 is available on the Bose U.S. website:

http://www.bose.com/pdf/customer_service/owners/vs2_owners_guide.pdf

Something else that might benefit those trying to help you troubleshoot would be a recital of the error messages you're getting (if any).

Thanks for the help harshness. I connected the Revue (in) to the DishNetwork HDMI and the Revue (out) to the VS2 TV (HDMI).

There are no error messages - blue screen.

Any other thoughts would be appreciated!

No, it just works. According to the Logitech site, your TV needs HDMI v1.3 and HDCP v1.2. It does say that DVI to HDMI adapters work, but if you're using the analog video outs on that VS2 because your TV doesn't have HDMI, it's probably not going to work.

Here's some troubleshooting tops from the Logitech support page:

ESPN3 requires support for Flash 10.3. Current Revue supports 10.1. Long awaited Honeycomb upgrade is supposed to fix this.

I was an early purchaser and have been reasonably satisfied iwith the Logitech Revue, but it is gradually becoming less "good." I enjoyed watching ESPN 3 on my big screen TV last year but cannot this year. Also can not play some videos now that used to play Ok. I hope that Honeycomb is not vaporware that we will never see. I do not understand why any meaningful upgrade is taking so long. I have not seen any improvement in capabilities since I bought it and certainly hope that the $99 sale is not a "closout."

You seem to have ignored my previous thoughts on what's next so I'm going to suggest that you go back and re-read the entire posts and not just the first sentence.

The key word to look for is "hosed".

honeycomb is already out there and in use on the revue. so it isn't vaporware. as to when it will be released 'officially' that's another story all together.

harshness - there's more than one way to skin a cat especially in technology. Utilizing Bose tech support a simple solution was found that only required two parts. I found a $47 solution which works perfectly thanks to another poster on this forum.

I didn't ignore your thoughts - I just preferred not to accept them and find a way to make this work.

Happy and not "hosed" ....

I apologize if this has been covered, but the thread search didn't show anything for this..
I am coming back to dish, dumping comcrap..
I own my own Logitec Revue
If I hook it up to my dish receiver, do I still have to pay the 4 dollar per month "integration" fee, and, will it even work, or do I need the "Dish Version"..

thanks all!

No, there is no Dish version. It will work without the integration fee; it merely can't search your DVR for recorded programs without it. Many people don't think the $4/mo is worth that advantage, since they can do all the searching they need via the Dish receiver's remote.

FYI.. a new release of HC is out and about .. this one includes root but (permanently?) loses recovery access ... which I hope is just a bug in the release and not a sign of Logitech trying to eliminate access.
I'm skipping the update again in hopes that a release WITH recovery is around the corner.

Netflix is back and working now too. GTVhacker • View topic - Honeycomb 3.1 UserDebug Leaked!

Also, for anyone having issues streaming files/videos they have on their computer, I've been using the "Format Factory" converter with great success... and it's free.

And here's the video:
NEW IN SEPTEMBER: Logitech Revue Honeycomb Leak (2nd leak and much better might I add) - YouTube

So awesome... can't wait!

I turned on my TV for the first time in a few days and on my screen was an error message... it said something about and authorization error. I couldn't figure out where the message was coming from the remembered I had the Logitech Revue hooked up. I then found my keyboard and turned it on. Canceled out of the error message and got a welcome to Google TV screen... yes folks my box for some reason got the honeycomb update on my Revue box!

Got my cell phone out and snapped some pics.

I have only messed with it for about a half hour but so far while its got the Market there isnt much to write home about.

This is not the first time I have received software not meant for the general public. The last time I got the Netflix update which caused all kinds of trouble. I had to give my unit ID to DISH Network so they could remove my account from the beta software spool. Obviously they didn't remove me as I did not load anything on my box.

Over the next few days I will play around with the update and give my thoughts, but at the moment going through the menus the words "lipstick on a pig" come to mind.

With the Market, at least you don't have to wait for Logitech to get their act together push OTA updates to fix bugs and add features. Developers can push updates to their software just like how they do on phones and tablets. And it will get easier with Ice Cream Sandwhich which will let devs make only one app that will work across all Android platforms. I'd like to know if HBO Go still works like it's supposed to in the browser of if we will have to wait for a native app. I saw a story on a site (might have been Engadget) that TBS and TNT are on-board for making their content online for GoogleTV but you'll need to authenticate like their iOS apps. Maybe that means more content players will come around. Like FOX or something. Like to know more Scott!
