I have a question, what Satellites can I get with a motor set up? I have been reading that some members can get from 58 to over 100 west deg. I live in the east coast Nyc.

Theoretically, you can get from Horizon to Horizon, that might be about 75Deg east and 75 degrees west of your location. In reality, the transponders on satellites have specific beams, and if the beams are not directed into your area, you can't receive the satellite.
There are beams on Hispasat at 30 deg W that you can receive in NY, if you don't have any obstacles in the way. You can also perhaps hit 148 W , if there are not obstacles, and if your motor can move that far west ( the motor's own range of motion is another factor, they differ.)

With most motors and with no obstacles in the way, I'd say you can receive from beams directed at you from satellites at 70 degrees east and west of your longitude. If you are at 73W, then 30W is in your range and so is G18 at 129W . The devil is in the details.

The closer you are to the center of the country, the better. This gives you more room both east and west to get everything you can. Being farther south also helps, since the elevation is higher for the entire arc the farther south you are. Here in New Orleans, I can get from 30w to 148w without problems, even though there are houses and a couple of two story apartments all around me.

I'm in eastern Pennsylvania and I'm pulling in from 137deg(W) to 87deg(W) with an actuator motor. An H-H motor will do better.

agreed with Tron. I'm in Minneapolis (93W) and can see form 30W to 148W

Also, it depends on what type of motor, and size of dish you have.

Some motors like the Satcontrol rotates around 50 degrees East or West of your longitude.

Other motors like the Sadoun PowerTech Dg380 will rotate around 80 degrees East or West of your longitude. Thus, it covers more satellites.

There's one spot in my yard, I can get 30 to 127 (winter - 43-127 summer, darn trees 2 yards over), and another where I can get probably another six degrees.

Theoretically speaking, you can detect signal from any satellite that is above your east or west horizon, which is about 75 degrees in either direction, so a span of 150 degrees total.

If you lived in Lubec, Maine... Theoretically you could capture satellites from 8.0 E to 142 W.

If you live in Tillamook, Oregon... Theoretically you could capture satellites from 49 W to 199 W.

Instead of +/- 75 degrees, I think that +/- 65 degrees would be more achievable.

I know that +/- 65 degrees is possible as I am able to confirm this with a 76 cm dish. A larger dish may be able to go that extra distance, but I wouldn't rely upon it.
