Is it me or does that image loop seem to be a bit North of the site (not in view)? Can you redo tha loop with the LAT/LON toggled to ON: so we can compare it to LAT 0°00' N - LON 154°00' W Launch Site

Could be for the better - perhaps they do not want to risk a repeat of what happened to Dish Network and AMC 14 (even tho it was a totally different launch facility). If I were DirecTV right now, I'd want a thorough going-over to make sure everything goes right.

Isn't that the truth. Maybe some info was shared that has them checking out issues? These aren't the same launch vehicles too are they?

So will launch DirecTV 12 in 2009 and what?

Have additional licenses to use them all at once (what orbital slot) or will they be moving one bird to in-orbit spare?

Page 32 is a hint perhaps? Maybe D12 goes at the 101 after it is launched. Those details haven't been put out to the public, that I am aware of. So it really is all guessing at this point.

Sea Launch uses the Zenit-3SL launch vehicle built by Yuzhnoye/Yuzhmash and Energia (see here). ISL uses the Proton-M built by Khrunichev State Research (link here)

When the delay was announced, I thought that Sea Launch might be using the Briz-M as well, but due to launching from the equator, all those messy orbit inclination burns aren't necessary. As a result, the orbital transfer vehicle doesn't need to be as powerful. Also, it appears that Sea Launch can put more mass into geosynchronous orbit than ILS can at this time (6,000 Kg vs. 3,200 Kg).
