Well I am going to be turning off my Voom service. I thought that it was a novel idea but Voom is still too new and has was too many issues that they need to work out before they are a company that can provide competition to Direct and Dish.

I will be getting Dish installed today between 12-5pm. The person I talked to said that I could cross connect my HD and DVR reciever so that I could have both. Without having to pay $1000 for the all in one unit :D

Wish I could say it has been fun but once I get my billing issues worked out Voom is going to get the boot.

Good Luck,
If you "cross connect" the DVR with an HD receiver, you will only be able to record in SD and not be able to record in HD unless you shell out the $1 grand for the HD unit. Keep an eye on these forums though and you just may come back to voom again.

Yeah I knew that it would be a fluke for me to be able to record HD. But to be honest I don't think that it will bother me any. I have never had a DVR so this will be a new experience all together. It will be nice to be able to record The Casino if I am going to miss it though :)

Hmm, you really think that all of us desperately need to know that you’re canceling Voom? If it is so important, maybe the title of your tread should be in bold ?

Yes, and I'll also let you know when/if I cancel VOOM.

Gotta love fan boys.

Kind of a stupid standard:

"I might miss The Casino in High Definition (if your shelling out the bucks to have a few HD channels on Dish), so I'll record it, in STANARD DEFINITION!! Whew what a lifesaver that was, I wonder if I'll ever realize that I could have rented The Casino and at least seen the whole thing in 480p. Or that if I were a little more patient I could wait for Voom's PVR. Hmmm maybe I'll just make a post and Voom's complete inner infrastructure will collapse in on itself."

Since the thread title was not in bold it was not a desperate need, hence your statement is not needed, Ergo you seem to be in need of attention or just feel the need to show that you don't care, however your silence would have proved to be more useful

Your right the only reason I switched was so I can record SD programming. There is no concevable way that I had other reasons as well.

And how useful is your announcement?

It seems that you are making this statment of why you are leaving Voom to have attention also. Sorry Voom didn't work out for you it just seems a little hippocritical that you would say that. Are you a Matrix fan? Because I don't see many people using "ergo" throughtout daily conversation. I am a pretty big fan, despite what other people have said about the last two. Sometimes its hard to live up to extremely high standards. The rave scene was pretty long and could have been dropped out.

Hell if Voom went under tomorrow and I needed a new HD sat provider (notice I said HD provider, I mean what else is the point right?) It would probably be DirectTV honestly, Dish is a pile of turds I would never sign up with them. You're going to be all over HDNet and the same locals you had in the first place. But wait, you have more SD channels!

Personally I want more HD, more channels, content, hell I've even said commercials should go in HD. I'd rather support the one place committed to that, than toss money at a provider committed to smooshing as many SD channels as possible. That said, at least DirectTV you could get NFL Sunday Ticket, I mean come on. However that's a service you pay for, while OTA I will get all my local team games, or it will be on ESPN or it will be on Monday Night Football. Every other game is being broadcast on NFL Network's HD feed. But, no you're problems are so incredible you have to leave, to the people that post threads like this, its like you are hopping everyone falls all over themselves and begs you to stay. Or like aww wuts wong?

Seriously if the Voom project fails, I think most DBS and Cable providers and networks could see investing large amounts of money into converting to HDTV as not necessary at this time. I mean if Voom offers 36 HD channels with more coming and no one wanted it? What's the rush? Before Voom came around Dish was committed to what 4-5 HD channels? They didn't even advertise it and forced you to buy the receiver for it, as well as installation, AND you had to pay extra for those few channels in HD. Garbage.

When I first got Voom in March I got no where with CSRs I'd say the last two months I've gotten nothing but solid response and great feedback from Voom CSRs... I have issues with local installers that don't know what they are doing, but Voom has on my info to only send me licensed techs. The last two calls have fixed my problems. I have a final one with upgraded antennas that should do the trick. What issues are you having with Voom service?
