So your bed was going with the motion of the ocean. Surf's UP!![]()
My first VCR was a Panasonic Top loading VCR for $650.00 in 1981. It had a switch dial like the old TVS did and you could hook up both UHF and VHF to it or Cable even. I loved that thing and by the later 80s I had given it to my Brother to use when I bought a new VCR for like $149.99. He used it for a week and somehow lightening struck the VCR and his TV and blew it up he claims.First thing i bought right out of high school was a 36 inch sony tv water bed and surround sound laser disc player and a sony s-vhs vcr and and upgrade to directv later on.. i had friends coming out of the walls. those were the days!!!

It takes 10 people to lift an old 32-36 trinitronThe 25" and 27" weren't heavy at all. They had a 32" and 36" highboy with VCR storage under it that WEIGHED A TON! Even the table top 32" and 36" were heavy, all in the front. Those CRTs had a ton of glass. Flatron/Wega would kill your back as well.

Remember how expensive the blank VHS tapes were back then? Over $15 each. That's roughly $58 today. Needless to say, those suckers got recorded over and over. I was in 11th grade when the Blue Jean Network came on TV. Can't remember which night but it would show an entire concert. I recorded Journey's 1981 Houston, TX concert along with Blue Oyster Cult. Took about half my weekly paycheck working at the local grocery store to pay my Mom for that tape so she didn't record 60 Minutes over those concerts.View attachment 193551my first one![]()

I kid you not, the yellow refrigerator in our current house was Mrs Pepper's, at least 5 years before we first met. We've been together 37 years. They don't make 'em like that anymore.![]()
That 1980s harvest gold color fridge was in my parent's home for years and it worked with little to no problem for years. Hurricane Rita in 2005 came through our area and we had to evacuate for like 10 days to Arkansas and when we came back all our refrigerators and freezers were ruined with horrible smell of rotten meat in them. So Mom finally got rid of her gold fridge and bought a two door model. Never will forget the rancid smell and it was all over the town because we all left town and we had no power for 2 weeks. You could smell rotten meat even on the highways around the city and local towns.![]()
Funny you mention that. I actually ran a radio ad recently in which I stressed this point. I basically said "are you tired of trying to remember what streaming service had a specific channel...with Dish you just punch in a number and it's there". Got quite a few sales off of that ad. Might need to repeat it.Older folks yes, it needs to be a single simple setup for everything. And NEVER change.
This would be a GREAT marketing tool.
Most models do, and if you go into the settings on the Roku and fire TVs, there's power setting that you can change to use last inputOlder folks yes, it needs to be a single simple setup for everything. And NEVER change.
This would be a GREAT marketing tool. Every single streaming service is just a channel and looks the same and is simple, not forcing what THEY want to serve you!
What model of TVs will turn on using the last input??
My 98 yr old Mom gets the stupid Hisense remote and screams: "hdmi one, HDMI ONE!" Then digs around to find the nice older full featured Dish Remote with ALL the buttons.
Hisense has PBS streaming, I can sort of figure it out, there is NO way my Mom can.
And jeeeze, if she accidentally hits AUX or something I get a phone call.
My sony's switch inputs all by itself and switch over to that device that was turned on.Most models do, and if you go into the settings on the Roku and fire TVs, there's power setting that you can change to use last input
What TV and which device? My sony's switch inputs all by itself and switch over to that device that was turned on.
My sonys switch inputs by itself when I turn a device on. If I turn on my blu ray player it switches to that input on its own I don't even need the remoteWhat TV and which device?
I would go into that device and turn off the HDMI-CEC. You can also go into the input settings on the TV and I think you can disable auto switching in there. I have one streaming box that does that but it's the only way I can get the remote for that device to control the volume. The others, I have them disabled from changing inputs automatically. My sonys switch inputs by itself when I turn a device on. Pretty much all I looked at last year had this setting. Still, with the LG I chose, I went to Best Buy & used the remote & made sure this worked. Most models do, and if you go into the settings on the Roku and fire TVs, there's power setting that you can change to use last input
