What is the minimum setup needed to make sure you have a dish pointed correctly? I bought a cheap Echostar receiver on Ebay (MPEG2 only). If I install a dish and point it at the satellite correctly, is there a "You are looking at [some satellite]" channel to make sure I can get a picture?

well best way to do it after you get signal on the reciever do check switch.

you can also press 9999, and it will take you to one of the orbital location channel. its usally the last channel on the guide.

what equipment are you going to use ???

like already mentioned... for the reciever to work right you will have to do a check switch, and that will tell you if you are lined up properly
