Do you have to wait 30 days before you can use the direct protection plan?

The plan if you sign up with the original order will cover you immediately. If you add it later you will need to wait 30 days to be covered. Although I have read that many users are able to get services at a lower rate prior to the 30 days.

Your install is covered by a 90 day warrenty. Having the protection plan during the first 60 days is pointless. As for a discounted service call, I had a friend get one for 14.95 if they took the protection plan for a year. As for me, had D* since 2003 and never needed to touch my dish, even for an alignment.
