Satellite probably has capability to receive control signals from almost any angle, otherwise a blip could put it out of commission for a long time.

It's funny how DISH automatically puts stuff on your DVR. Stuff like "September Movie Highlights!".

I doubt Charlie would allow me to come over to his billion dollar mansion and let me put my favorite TV shows on his DVR.

Oh DISH

Yea, should be an option available to block that SPAM!

I thought that they had redundant uplinks to prevent this! Im surprised that dish doesnt have a redundant 10 gig fiber loop to route between uplink centers for satellite controlling data and pushing around video.

That would have fixed the weather issue! Guess you all are really missing out on you "game time". Part time hd rsn's tonight!

How are they able to control/configure the satellite, if it's 22,000 miles up, especially when something serious happens, like for example it gets turned, not pointing at the earth anymore?

If that does happen the satellite is supposed to go into autopilot and reorient itself to the earth. If of course the computer on the satellite is still functioning.

No need for a check switch though since they removed the mappings to 129.
Good point...

Getting further updates...

I am hearing some good news including that they are now going through some procedural checklists checking out the new satellite before putting the new satellite back in production.

If you here on the East Coast I feel very safe in saying when you wake up tomorrow you will have you HD back...

No need for a check switch though since they removed the mappings to 129.

If this is supposed to be a temporary situation that should be fixed in the next few hours, why would they go through all the trouble of removing mappings, etc.? They even removed the HD channels from my custom channel list.

Geesh Bob you work in this industry.. Redundant uplinks have nothing to do when there is an issue with the satellite itself, which is the issue we have here.

In addition this satellite is not owned and operated by Echostar / DISH Network, it is leased from SES Americom. DISH is basiclly waiting for SES to get control of the bird, fully check out the bird and before they can reload the satellite back up.

He's in the right thread......he just is watching his DVR and noticed the spam that he has not noticed before.
He is waiting in this thread like all of us to see when the thing is fixed!

Delete the recording and move on? Takes all of 5 seconds? Gonna need more than that to occupy his time while he waits...
