I feel like I lose my signal far too easily when it rains and directv seems unwilling to come realign the dish for free even though it has always been this bad since the install.

I am hoping someone can review the number below and tell me if my expectations are just too damn high for a dish:

Thanks Scot

Those aren't the very best numbers, but they should be good enough to not be an issue in normal rain. Have you checked the numbers when it is raining? I'd check all of your cabling and connections, too.

Depending where he is those are good numbers. Farther north the lower they get. Here in central Indiana those are pretty typical numbers.

Thats what I was thinking too.
Even what would probably be his locals numbers look good.

I'm wondering if he's maybe looking thru a tree .... numbers look great, but when it rains the leaves and branches get moving around and cause issues ? Just a thought.

Ka is a little more susceptible than ku as far as rain fade.

Nothing wrong with his signals, on tc's like that i would fake like i was lining up the dish. Maybe replace an lnb, really doing nothing just humoring the guy, because i cant exactly fix what isnt broken

Should be explaining to the customer that his HD signal is more likely to go out than his standard and explain the signal is more easily effected. Keeps from a repeat, a pissed off customer, and a tier 1,2, or 3

I'm in Austin Tx. No trees or other obstructions. Perhaps I just have unrealistic expectations.

Very light drizzle right now and the signals all dropped by ~2 except on 99s where 5 and 8 are in the low 30s, 20 is 0 instead of 18. And on 103s 1 dropped to 24. I'll check again with the heavy rain starts up and the inevitable rain fade hits.

Thanks for all the replies.

Ignore 99s and 103s, those carry only spotbeamed locals and most of them are aimed at other cities not at Austin. It's normal to see low or even zero signals on 99s/103s and the low signals will drop really fast in storms. You'll also see some low or zero signals on 99ca, don't worry about those. The relevant national SD transponders are on 101 (and a few of those are spotbeams), the HD transponders are on 103ca, 103cb and 99cb.
