Signal strength on 129?

Signal of 89 with an outboard 129 lnb on a 121 superdish to a 625 receiver in SE MN.

This is REALLY easy. Took ten minutes!

it is pretty easy...I put one on my Dish500 in like 5 minutes :)

Have to try this weekend to get that signal up

Does that work?

I thought being 9 deg off boresite would be pretty weak.

I want to know what others are seeing for signal levels on 129 TP21. I recently tried to repoint a customer's 148 dish for SF bay area locals to 129. I was seeing about 75-85 on TP20 & 21(since they have the channels for the bay area I pay attention to those). I went inside and watched channels on both TPs. After about 10 minutes it seems TP21 stopped working. I got error 015. The channels on TP20 and the signal on the other TPs still looked good. I repointed the dish. Then I replaced the DP dual. Then I replaced the DP21 switch. All I could get on TP21 was a very intermitent signal. It was jumping from 0 to 30 with no lock. The 30 would only show for a split second then back to 0. Is dish still "playing" with the TPs on 129? I had to point her 2nd dish back to 148 to get all her channels again. Thanks in advance for any info.

I'm in the Bay Area and last weekend I tried TP20 on 129, I didn't try TP21. I was getting mid 70s on TP20. I just repointed to 148 where some of my locals are, getting 99 on TP27 there. I'm just going to wait a few more weeks until they stop playing with the TPs.

OK. I just hung a D1000 on my test tree. I have NOT tried to peak it - just used the beeper on 119 for "good" signal. Here's the results using an 811:

NOTE: THREE sets of numbers. While I was typing the cities, at 19:00MDT, things changed! First set is before, second set is 19:00-19:10, third set is 19:15. Nobody touched the dish (note the concsistency on 110/119). Maybe E* is tuning the bird - or maybe just ... who knows :)

119-11: 98/98/98
119-12: 94/93/94
110-11: 84/84/84
110-12: 80/78/80
(not bad for a quickie "hack" aim :) )

129-04: 58/74/61 (Columbus, OH; Clarksburg/Weston, WV, Charlottesville, VA)
129-05: 66/79/66 (Sioux City, IA; Dayton, OH)
129-06: 80/89/80 (Voom)
129-07: 71/80/71 (Wausau, WI; Wichita Falls, TX/Lawton, OK)
129-09: 82/93/85 (Voom)
129-10: 82/89/80 (Voom)
129-12: 76/87/79 (Voom)
129-13: 00
129-14: 67/72/68 (Houston, TX)
129-15: 76/80/75 (Chicago, IL)
129-16: 60/73/63 (Denver, CO)
129-17: 59/83/75 (Erie, PA)
129-18: 63/68/63 (Columbus, OH; Charleston/Huntington, WV)
129-20: 60/73/64 (Richmond, VA; San Francisco, CA)
129-21: 00 (San Francisco, CA)

I didn't write down every little city detail.
My location is 10 miles E of the absolute center of Colorado.

REMEMBER: 129 is NOT "official" until Sept. 27th - E* is free to muck around until then.

Just tested using a 625 with DPP Separator. Checked in just fine, with strengths on both tuners 1-4 points less than the 811 on 110/119. As of 19:30MDT, they seem to be messing around with 129 again, so I can't be certain about comparing strengths between the 811 & 625.

Note that the 625 "Details" page did NOT show the 129 bird. Dunno why.

Update to post #30. Installed D1000, 811, & 625 at SpringsGuy's today.

Lost a couple of points of signal strength.

Probably due to lots more cable length and a pair of diplexers.

I would have thought that 129 would have a stronger signal than this. I can only hit about 75% max.
Remember - it's not percent. ;)

Check my earlier post - with three sets of numbers per transponder.

My conclusion is that it's too early to worry about the numbers yet.

From mleland:
"All I could get on TP21 was a very intermitent signal. It was jumping from 0 to 30 with no lock."

From SimpleSimon:
"129-21: 00 (San Francisco, CA)"

What's wrong with TP21 on 129? Is anyone else getting intermitent signal or no signal on this transponder? I'm planning to try again this weekend but if TP20 is not working, I'm just going to wait.

no since not all the US can get 129
well, I can confirm York, PA is outside the footprint :(
Probably explains why the Pittsburgh Cornerstone channel was squeezed onto 110 instead of 129. Also means Philly locals and New York locals will goto onto E-10 (MOAS-Mother of All Spotbeams).
