Signal Strength

I bought a indoor antenna 'rabbit ears'. It doesn't have an amplifier and i get signal between 60-70. I lose signal very often, specially if somebody walks by the antenna.

The cable from the antenna to the my vip622 is only 6'

What's a good signal strength ? If i get a indoor antenna with amplifier would I get better/stable signal?

An amplified antenna will improve your signal strength, but I seriously doubt it will prevent your loss of signal when someone walks in front of the antenna.
If you want the best (i.e, the cleanest) signal, the antenna should be placed outdoors with clear line-of-site to the transmitters. However for a variety of reasons, that is not always possible.

What is a "good" signal strength? IMO 70 or better on the signal strength meter. But that is under the assumption that you won't get interference between the towers and your antenna, as would likely occur when an obstruction "walks" between the tower and the antenna.

I purchased a DB4 antenna from here Antennas Direct | DB4 The Best HDTV Antenna on the Market. This antenna works great - I get >90% signal strength on all my locals. On 6 out of 13 channels I get 100%. The towers are about 35 miles away. I have this mounted outside right underneath my dish.
