I am traveling with my DTV dish. I am getting zeros in my signal strengths. If this is improper aiming, then why am I getting almost all channels except for 2 or 3 of them? Also, will being in another part of the country take away the locals I had at home?

Welcome to the Site :)

When you move roughly 100-200 miles away from your home area, you'll lose your locals as they are on Spot Beams.

IF you have 0's on all of your Sat's, you will not have any channels other than maybe 100, 200 and 500.

What Sats are you checking when you said you have nothing ?
Are you expecting HD or just SD ?

What recvrs are you using and what dish are you trying to align ?

With these answers we can try to understand what your set up is more accurately.
