On the DirecTV Slimline dish, what is the empty spot on LNBF arm reserved for?
Clearly some new birds, but where will they be located and will it be one of those Ka-band multi-spot LNBFs like the center one is?

It could be for future use or just the way it happens to look.

Measuring angles ... nay, only 95W could be added, not 72.5W.

Not nessaraly, at least the way I see it.
It would be entirely possible for them to add a LNB and already have it built on an appropriate angle (could be done internally) as to get to a different sat. of course there will be limit as to just how far it could go. 72 does seem like a long stretch.

Oh, really ? I'd like to see how you'll do that.
I'll bet for the AU-9 plus HR20 you'll never get it works.
Regardless how much ductape will be spare. :p

[Toroidal dish can't cover 72.5W to 119W, boy !]

I'm not saying I'm doing it, I'm saying the D* designers could add adl. lnbs to the available spots. Could it be that the next sat (after these two) would go up to the sat position that an addl. lnb would hit.

You have to think outside the box !

Of course, D* would probably just build another dish and I would have yet another for my closet.
