Since Dish is splitting the HD package again, are your going to keep the platinum HD package after June 3rd?

Personally I never saw a need for these extra channels and will drop the package after June 3rd. I going to sign up for credit card auto-pay and take advantage of the Free HD programming and reduce my bill by $10

Had it not been for the addition of Epix, Retroplex, and Indieplex I probably would drop it too, but I do like those channels.

Since current customers will be grandfathered in to the "hd for life" I will keep the Platium for the time being.

Only those with HD + Platinum for $10 will be grandfathered.

Those paying for HD and platinum HD separately will continue paying for both separately unless they agree to a new 2 year commitment (or pay $99) sign up for Credit Card auto pay and paperless billing.

I will keep it

I'm just waiting for the Turbo package to get back in gear. Man it would be nice to only pay for HD channels and get all HD that is available . My dream is to have an every HD package minus the premiums. Its time to have two packages one for HD only and SD only.

Since they moved the NHL Network out of the Platinum pack I don't really have a need for it anymore. I stopped caring about movie channels after I got into a groove with Netflix.

Scott, I already do auto pay and have a 2 year contract and I have platinum added to my HD for free so do you know what I have to do?

Good question. I noticed in the "HD for Life" thread that it seems existing customers already subbing to HD & Platinum will be grandfathered in and paying $10/month for the Platinum add-on. However, I wonder what will occur if someone wants to get rid of the Platinum add-on. I like the channels in the Platinum add-on. I wish they would add MoviePlex since IndiePlex and RetroPlex are in the pack. I am sure MoviePlex plays some stuff on the SD Encore channels, but it would be nice to see some of the movies in HD.

I can't distinguish between "HD + Platinum for $10" and "HD and Platinum and paying $10/mo for the Platinum add-on". I think there are those who are getting HD + Platinum for a grand total of $10/mo. and those who are getting HD + Platinum for a grand total of $20/mo. (as well as those just getting HD for $10/mo.).

My head hurts.

This is my sticking point for me.. there are still too many unanswered questions:

I have HD + Platinum for $10 and I own all of my equipment and have never been under a contract. If I drop the HD + Platinum, I assume I'll get dropped back to the legacy AT200. Then in order to get HD back I'll have to either by HD monthly (without platinum for $10) a month or sign a 2yr contract to get the HD for free or pay $99 which would give me a break even of 10 months.

Ultimately I'd like to just drop platinum to get the standard HD pack for free but there are two reasons I won't do a contract:

1) Tivo status: If my DVR (2x 722K) gets shut off, I'm gone like the wind and I don't want a contract holding be back.
2) My current cable provider sucks (Windstream) but the franchise agreement with my city finally expired and Comcaast is coming in around Q3-2010.

Unless I can get the HD pack free while dropping Platinum without a contract, I'll make no changes.

Yea, my strategy is going to be: "let them come to me". :)

I will make no changes to my account and sign no contract (I'm out-of-contract now) and see what develops. If I lose Platinum then so be it.

It's already included in my "absolute" package, nothing for me to drop or change. :D

Don't forget about the $5 downgrade fee (there is a fee for that slogan) if you drop your platinum hd package to save the $10 per month.

The more channels they add to this package, the more value Dish will create for this package.
