You don't even need to access PIP menu. Go to any channel and hit the option button. You can then select multi-view.

This feature disappears after stand by is entered.

Definitely use live channels only, if you accidentally use a dvr recording, the sportsbar app appears to cause the recording to be corrupted and unusable.

I can change each of the 4 windows to any chanel.

Audio dropouts about every 30sec on each of the 4 windows.

Do you have the newest software update? Its U307. When you start up your H3, press the home button twice, then go to settings, then diagnostics and look for the software version of your H3. If its not showing u307, you wont have the sports bar feature. Make sure all of your receivers are off at the same time and that should prompt an upgrade, although I do not know what time it will show up (mine showed up at 407am). Hope it helps.

Sports Bar mode seems to be working well on my Hopper 3. I really wish it was possible to use this feature on the 4K Joey, but at this point I would just settle for working PIP.

It is not going to work on the Joeys. The 4K joey with have PIP (side by side) eventually.

I've had every issue mentioned, Blank screens, Dropping audio, even a full on H3 freeze up,
After about 4 separate reboots, it started working like it should.

Yeah I have a 4k tv but i dont understand what you mean by does the picture switch? When you use sports bar mode, it shows 4 screens with each screen displaying content in 1080p.
