Spring is here and it's time to install the 8' C-band dish my wife bought me for Christmas from WS International.

I found the location where it is going to be installed, cleared nearby shrubs and tomorrow I am going to put together the stand the dish gets mounted onto.

Question:
Would a concrete pad be best to install the stand onto? After I assemble the stand I will have an idea as to how big the concrete pad should be. Has anyone installed this dish without using a concrete pad?

I installed a 6 foot solid on one of those stands without a concrete pad. I pounded six long lengths of rebar on the base to hold it. Because I didn't have it motorized I found myself pulling rebar and resetting a whole lot.
