Stupid R15 tricks?

My son and I received an R15-300 to play with. We are actually DISH subscribers, so the box doesn't have any apparent value to us. I'm wondering if any uses have been found for this box which do not involve a DirecTV subscription.

Please note, we are not looking to steal service or do anything else illegal. I'm wondering if anyone has figured a way to use the box as sort of a crude digital VCR taking an external input.

It will only work with a Directv subscription. The tuner in it has a decoder that is built of Directv only.

there is most likely a 160 Gig hard drive in it...
