Time for the annual Cancel and Chat dance. Mrs. Foxbat's coming up on the end of her 12 month special offer of $6.06/months. I tried to cancel and gave as one of the reasons the fact that Deep Tracks was moved to channel 308 which her 2018 Regal can't access. To be fair, she doesn't listen to it, I do, but I was looking for a valid reason why the price should go down, not up. Arti was sure that he could change our account to make it work in her car. I'll give him credit if it works, but the flip side is his named will be forever tied to SiriusXM's CSR pool and saying whatever is necessary to keep a subscriber.

In the end, we renewed at $6.99/mo. until June 2027.

Try using the Chat next time ... I got tired of trying to understand them, this way were both typing.

Well, that was a waste of effort. Our new Cadillac comes with a three-month free trial. Good that it's free, bad that I'll have to go through the Cancellation Dance all over again…

At least you still have CarPlay to fall back on. That reportedly goes away with GM's 2028 model year, when they will transition to an Android-based navigation/entertainment system.

Except ours is one of the GM vehicles that doesn't support smartphone projection, so no Android Auto/CarPlay.

The good news is that our GM Rewards account has an offer for $5/mo. after the three month trial in our Optiq is over. So, that's better than what SiruisXM offered.

Killing CarPlay is the dumbest move ever.
I am always considering what would replace my current vehicle. Anything with no CarPlay is 100% ruled out.

Government Motors is making a considerable number of dumb moves lately.

That said, Tesla and Rivian don't support CarPlay either, so your options in the mainstream EV space are very limited (Ford Mach-E, Hyundai, and Kia?).

Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Polestar, Renault, and Volvo are currently refusing to support CarPlay Ultra.

I agree with your wanting Car Play, AA ...

My thinking is that the manufactures want back in on the Infotainment portion and are thinking they will develop thier own systems for thier vehicles and hope to get customers over to thier services (with potential fees possibly).

Just a Thought ... and GM is the one leading the way.

I don't know if they will be successful or not in the long term, well see.

It has to do with the automakers wanting to have your data, instead of Apple and Google.

Car play isn't needed as long as you can connect with blue tooth you can play whatever you want from your phone through the car audio system.

There are a handful of automakers (both domestic and import) that have never implemented phone projection (a unified term for CarPlay/Android Auto). Many GM models still feature phone projection, with their phase-out target of 2028.
