I have had Directv service at home for over 10 years. I would like to use Directv while talgating a few times a year. I am told that all I need to do is buy a mobile dish with tripod and take one of my receivers. I would guess that I would need some sort of equipment to help point the dish also.
Is this right?
Any suggestions?

Yes this will work, you don't _need_ a sat finder(the reciver has one built-in, just remeber the meter on the recievers take about 6 seconds to show a signal so move dish slowly), but it helps, you need a heading compass, and maybe a level might be handy.

Set it up once and mark it (or if the dish has ticks, note their position), if stored right (so you don't knock the elevation/tilt off), you should be able to find a clear s.w. sky, use the compass, use the level to make sure surface is level, could toss it up in minutes.
