Hi,I am thinking of getting direct but have a few questions,what is the range of the hr44 remote? I want my reciever in the basement and want to know if it will work.

The HR44 has an rf remote, but the exact range is determined by the type of walls, distance to the dvr, etc.

does anybody use these that can give an approximate range? am i safe to have the genie in the equipment room?

I can use my RF remote from the other bedroom, while the Genie is in the living room. Roughly 25 ft and a hollow door closed.

Ive gone about 40 feet into a yard just to test, but it was just Sheetrock and plywood with vinyl siding throughout.

My TV set up is in the back room, went to the front of the house and out the front door and was able to change channels fine ... however, that was using the older remote in RF mode, not the one they brought out with the 44.
