The BUD that I'm soon to install came with a CalAmp 140129 LNB, labeled as having a gain of 65db and noise temp of 25k, and voltage controlled polarity. Would this be considered a decent LNB? It is fuctional.

Also, it has a mark on it specifying "Polar Axis". Should this be pointed at 9 or 12 o'clock?

That sounds fine if it is a functional unit. Noise temperature is not everything. Drift/stability is what you really look for. You could have a 40 degree lnb(f) that is highly stable that will outperform a 13degree lnb(f) that is not as stable.

i have this same lnbf, it should work fine. mine had a polar axis mounting card that slid into the feedhorn and basically pointed with the polar axis ( north / south )

My Cal Amp is a 40 degree commercial unit from 1989. Works great on ALL digital I throw at it.
Cal Amp is great stuff :)
