I have a Tivo Series 3 with lifetime and an expanded hard drive.

It has been trouble free since day one. A couple of weeks ago I noticed that it rebooted every time I turned it on. But after that it worked. Now when I turn it on it just boots over and over again.

I do have a TiVo series 3 (unsubscribed) which I found at a junkyard to use for replacement parts.

Is this most likely a bad power supply, main board, hard drive, or new TiVo software bug?

My series 3 will do that, but only after a power outage. I get it back online by pulling the plug for a couple of minutes until it comes back to the screen. I think it's probably the hdd, but you should go to the Tivo Community forums. Plenty of people there who know about these things. I'm just planning on replacing mine with a Romeo ota refurb from Weaknees. $299.99 at their site or on their Amazon store.
