will c/ku band toshiba receivers still work. and if they do i need about 125ft of ribbon cable and a actuator, fta provided it will receive a signal 80 miles away. like to deal with a local dealer here in houston. thanx

c/ku band comes from satellites located 22300 miles up in the sky, not 80 miles. The Toshiba's, I'm familiar with, will receive only analog tv and audio signals, assuming that it's also connected to the proper lnb mounted in a properly sized and aimed dish, from these satellites. There are very few analog signals available, as almost all have switched to a digital signal(DVB). The Toshiba analog IRD's can be used to "move" the dish on a polar mount, to aim at different satellites. A DVB fta satellite receiver is recquired to receive DVB on these satellites. Maybe a little more information on what channels you are looking to get, and the equipment that you have. IE; dish, lnb, receiver model#. What is the signal that s 80 miles away that you're trying to get? Maybe all IT requires is a proper OTA antenna.
