True south motor question

Do I point my motor/ dish assy. to true south by compass and then use the receiver to direct the motor to move to the nearest satellite to direct south and peak from there. Or do I leave the motor set to zero and move the whole assy. to the satellite nearest to true south and peak by then moving the entire assy.

That's how I do it.
Then have the Receiver drive the Dish using USALS, to your nearest Sat. Tweak by moving whole assy. first, peak Dish Elevation second. Now check as far East and West as you can get, see if any changes are necessary.
