Back to the matter at hand... with these locals on 77; let me ask the dirty question. If you live in this market (or any future markets that will have HD LiL placed on 77) and are currently installed with 61.5 + 110/119 will you have to get a THIRD wing dish to get 77???

I'm not sure why you have 61.5 if your locals are on 77.

To get 77, you should have a Dish 1000.4, which receives 61.5, 72 and 77.

No need then for 110/129.

Case study:
an existing sub in Lexington is subscribed to Turbo Gold with SD LiLs. For that installation, two dishes would be required. One at 110/119 (accidently said 129 above) and the other at 61.5 for the core HD programming. When the Lexington HD LiL's (located on 77) are activated. What can this customer do to get his HD LiL's?

I know that 1000.4 is not an option due to supply issues and the fact that they just don't change existing subs to the new EA dish, so will he have to:

1) get a third wing dish pointed at 77
2) (I doubt this is technically possible) have the 110/119 repointed to 72.7/77
3) be out of luck

I ask, because I am 78% certain my market will be on 77, and figure I should start planning accordingly.

Just because you see your HD locals uplinked that is no proof that they are coming. The Sherman/Ada market was uplinked for about 2-3 months on 61.5 and was even mentioned on the last Charlie Chat to be availble in the next 30-45 days in HD. Now they are availble in SD on the eastern arc, and the 61.5 HD uplinks have been taken down.

Understood, like I said above, this is a hypothetical. I was curious if anyone would know what would happen in such a situation. (with the curiosity coming in the question of how does dish plan on dealing with existing HD subs when their HD LiL's show up on 77)

I have no idea but, the easiest thing would be to switch out to a 1000.4 and upgrade any incompatible receivers to mpeg 4.

That is what I would think as well, but dish is in short supply of the 1000.4s (from what I am to understand) and is adamant about not switching existing subs arcs. (Eastern Arc is for newly installed HD subscribers only... sigh)

Well, that is supposed to change in Feb. Maybe they will not add and HD LIL's to 77 that they do not have duplicates of elsewhere until after Feb.

- You can buy a Dish 1000.4 from Dishstore.net (a sponsor of SatelliteGuys).

- There is a list of new Eastern Arc Markets (probably all on 77) at:

http://www.satelliteguys.us/dish-network-forum/154264-new-ea-markets-nov-19-a.html

- You can use a Dish1000 to get 110/119/129 and then swing the wing dish from 61.5 to 77 to get your locals (thereby getting HD from 129, which will be much stronger when the new satellite is online in 2 months there)

His mention of 110/129 was a typo, and he intended to say 110/119.

National HD in the Harrisburg/Lancaster/York market is on 61.5 as 129 is no good in the northeast, so swinging 77 to 61.5 will result in losing all non-local HD.

I'm in the same market, currently people in the market have a Dish 300/500 pointed at 61.5 for National HD's and a Dish 500 pointed at 110/119 for the rest.
Our HD locals are now uplinked at 77 to be available on the 19th. So will Dish add a Dish 500 pointed to 77 (resulting in a 3rd dish), or will they replace the Dish 300/500 with a Dish 1000.4?

Over in the new uplink thread someone mentioned swinging the 110/119 over to 61.5/72.7 and the smaller dish at 61.5 over to 77. But, I think I will wait until I see the programming notice from dish to see what e* is suggesting for existing subs. Via my CM4222 I can get NBC, ABC, CW, PBS, and Fox (which fluxuates between 60 & 80 signal strength, so getting a stronger Fox would be a perk); so I am in no rush... since CBS is a LOONNNGGG way away.
