While looking for a USB external HD enclosure, I stumbled across this:

Snap-In SATA Mobile Rack for 3.5" SATA Hard Drive from Addonics

and ordered one. I am happy to report that this enclosure work just fine with the Dish 722 receiver. This enclosure is unique because it has a door on the front that allows you to hot swap BARE SATA drives! Now you can change 500 GB (or larger) drives almost as quickly as you can put a DVD in a DVD player! I can also report that this enclosure seems to be VERY well made. The enclosure is quite heavy and has a solid feel to it. It also has a cooling fan and door lock. I am VERY impressed with this enclosure. I am currently using a 500GB WD drive, but intend to build a library of bare drives to swap out! Oh, and it's less than $80.

Very nice if you regularly need to access multiple drives. Otherwise, kind of pricey.

Interesting.
Can you identify the USB interface chip (it's probably burried in the back somewhere) ?

Try moving some shows back and forth.
Also try running the 300x ff for awhile (I've had some boxes lock up doing this).

Has anyone confirmed if this enclosure works with Dish receivers?

Never mind, I just re-read the original post...duh!
