Viewing DVR through home network?

True but not the issue. To use the Roku, WD Player or from your mobile device etc the Slingbox has to be at least a Pro, that's why I said to use that one. If you are simply using your computer connected to the TV, then you can use any older Slingbox with Slingplayer and no internet connection needed but not the last two generations.
 
Thanks all for your info and ideas.

We've somehow managed to survive with only one TV for the last 40+ years. We aren't ready to add a 2nd TV yet. But the info in this thread has helped us understand our options to keep the location of a 2nd TV flexible.
