Viewsat Extreme.

I found one of these for 5 bucks at a garage sale.[ Damned expensive ] It was dead , but , with reading , I managed to resurrect it. Then I had to delete over 4000 channels. Now , I want to get my brother AMC 9 . I checked the files and Extreme was not listed. Could someone please show me the latest available update ? Thanks for any help.

Do you have an RS232 serial modem cable which you will need to up load files? I don't think there are any updates since this is an old box and Viewsat is no longer in business.
Also you should be able to use the existing sat list in the unit. You can easily modify an existing sat file or create a new AMC 9 sat file and blind scan it.

Yup , I borrowed one , and , as I have read it should be a null cable. I have done a lot of reading , as I don't have much to lose. [ 5 whole bucks ] Thanks for your reply. Where would I find the file ? The files here only list the other viewsat models.

Are you looking for a firmware update or a sat list update or both?
You can probably find both on the web.

If you are just trying to get one satellite, you should be able to just manually enter the info for a hot transponder (RTV?) on AMC9 to lock the satellite and then blind scan.

I was just hoping for a sat list update as soon as I get this thing back to life. I am sure he will want a motor after this thing is alive. Thanks.

Tell him when he can afford a motor (which you no doubt will have to install and service), he can afford a better receiver!
