Hi Gang,

D* installed about three weeks ago. At the time I asked the installer if the audio outputs could be used to control a set of powered speakers. He assured me they could via the vol control on the remote.

Today I got around to hooking up the speakers to the RCAs on the back and got sound but no control. Is this correct or do I need to program the unit to make the vol controllable? If so, can someone point me in the right direction? What do the vol buttons on the remote do?

TIA, George

PS We also got a HD-DVR, will this be the same issue with that unit.

Directv receivers do not have audio output control of there own, its line level. For the Directv remote to control your speaker system, there has to be a preset in the remote, and your speaker system has to be IR remote controllable in the first place.

Thanks Edmund, Guess you could apply for an installer job. I'll get a separate vol control. George
