[VOOM] New member

[Sneaky John]

Not sure if this is needed, but usually requested by most groups, so here
it goes.
My name is John, I live in Arizona with my wife and our two sons. I don
t ahve VOOM yet, but am thinking about it.
I guess my question to you all is, do you like it, would you make the
switch from DTV to VOOM (if you were me), or after knowing what you know
now? What about VOOM being in trouble financially?
Any advice would be very helpful.

If you want the most HD at a pretty good price point VOOM is the place. They are having some growing pains but my experience has been quite positive. The pictures in HD are very high quality and that's mostly what i watch. HD.

Thanks, that is what I am looking, obviously the more HD and a
great picture to boot!
What about rumors of financial problems?!?!?!? Growing pains (as
you put it) or a concenr for someone like me wanting to make the jump
to VOOM?

Why worry about that? The installation cost right now is only $49 and the equipment is leased to you so if VOOM goes caput you aren't really out very much and the HD content is overwhlemingly superior to any other service. Just don't buy the equipment and another tip is to pick thecorrect number of receivers you want for your house because adding one later gets expensive since they will charge you full installation fee of $199 with no introductory discount once you are already a customer.
Also, they may have upgraded equipment in 2005 including a TIVO like recorder and you may want that. If you've already bought today's VOOM receiver you could always use it as a second receiver in another room after adding the DVR.

I have 3 kids all under 8, I switched from Dish to Voom. We love it I would not go back. They have all the chanels that my kids watched and all the chanels thay my wife and I watched and they a lot of HD unlike D and E.

I agree, the expense at this time is very minimal. It is kinda the
nervouse feeling of leaving DTV, I have been with them for 6 years or
so. Kinda like a bad realtionship break-up, even though you can't
stand each other, it is never easy. LOL!!!!!!

So, I keep hearing about the PQ, is the HD and SD that much better
than DTV? I personally find that DTV's PQ as degraded over the past
few years. And to be honest, I have seen the cable HD stuff here
with Cox, and I think it blows away DTV's HD.

One last question for you. I have never received my locals over an
antenna before, can you make the non-HD stuff fit your screen? I was
told that you couldn't, and had to watch it with the bars. Is this
true?

I agree, obviously the HD is the main factor, but since they added
USA, Sci-Fi as well as other....they ahve become a little more
attractive.
