I was watching a recording last night on my HWS and it started skipping in one or two second increments. I would miss a word or two in the dialog every 10 or 20 seconds. I tried two recordings with the same results. I rebooted the HWS and everything went back to normal for the rest of the evening. Is this a known bug? If not, will Dirt please report it.

it could be the hard drive getting ready to go kaput might want to look into getting a external usb powered hard drive to start back up recordings if you want to keep them.

If this happens again, skip back 10 seconds and see if it still does the same thing. My HWS skips audio at times on recorded or live programs, but going back 10 seconds it always plays the audio that was skipped. This indicates to me that I have a problem in my set-up, not a HWS problem which I cannot find.

This HWS was new in February 2014. HD should not be bad yet. I do nave external drives and only keep a few nights recordings on the main HD. If this happens again, I will move more of them to ext HD. I usually leave the 1 hour series on the HWS, since I usually watch them withing one or two days, but move all movies to the ext HD. I tried skipping back first before rebooting, it wasn't any better.

My HWS is about two weeks old and suddenly it has started skipping on both regular recording and PTAT. I can skip back ten seconds
and it does not skip for that particular instance. Seems to be a software problem in my opinion.

I am a fan of The American Heroes Channel which is not HD. I been dealing with this skipping issue for quite a long time. Not quite sure, but I beleive this skipping issue only occurs on SD Channels, at least in my case. This channel will automatically Fast Forward while using the DVR. I know when this is about to occur. The picture will start jumping and go to live. Sometimes I just simply rewind and it will start working as it is supposed to.

I just simply deal with this issue.

Is it just the audio that skips or audio and video?

Both audio and video were skipping together making me miss words in the dialog. After I rebooted it, I haven't had any more problems in the last month. Mine were HD programs. I do not watch SD programs. Dgrasha is having similar problems with his new HWS.

Are you saying that wired is causing the problem and wireless would work better? I tried your suggestion, but never saw three green OK's. I would have to disconnect the Ethernet first or the Hopper selects wired as the preferred connection.
