Hi, Is it possible to upgrade to just HD access without the DVR? Will this take a new dish,we have a DirecTV dish already? Will the existing cable that runs from our existing dish handle the new antenna if required? We don't want the installer to drill a hole in the house. We never record anything. If we miss something we look for it in summer rerun. We don't watch the movie channels either. Just regular programming. Thanks

HD tuners are available. But why watch commercials when you don't have to? Personally I think DVR's are the greatest invention in TV history, (after TV itself.) I would never be able to watch everything I want to watch if I couldn't time-shift. Get a DVR and you'll wonder how you lived all these years without one.

You can acquire HD receivers and yes, they require a new and much larger dish that DIRECTV will install for free.

Note that this upgrade comes with a 24 month commitment so make sure you get what you want.
