Hi all, just wondering what some of your preferences are in the way of wireless routers. I currently have a Linksys wireless g router but wondered what, if any, reasons there may be to upgrade to an "n" router. I'm fairly happy with Linksys and have had a netgear wireless router that I was also fairly happy with. Just wanted to get some feedback.:)

I've used Belkin B and G routers and never had a issue. Plus I got both of them for like $10 after rebates. I've also had experiences with Linksys and been happy with them as well as Dlink. I've used Netgear network cards but don't think I've used a router from them.

I've also thought about upgrading to N but honestly the G is way faster than my internet and does everything I need it to do for right now anyway.

You'd want an 'N' router if you were streaming video, moving large files around your network or for other bandwith intensive tasks. As was said, B or G technology is far faster than any internet connection that's currently obtainable.

well, G is faster than most internet connections that you can get for your home, B on the other hand is becoming a bottleneck for the latest offerings from ISPs.

As for brand, well, honestly for home use, most any decent brand off the shelf should suit you. Older linksys you could flash to custom rom's and gain a lot of features. But I have not priced one in a while, nor do I know if you can still flash them.

I ended up trying out a DIR-628 (D-Link). First D-Link I've owned and after 4 days I'm quite impressed. The main reason I use the router is for LAN games (Age of Empires 2). Other routers have had issues hosting / joining, etc. This router has had no issues so far.
