I can't believe this won't be added as a one-off. Olympic coverage in HD will suffer. One of the biggest events of the Olympics for the US - the US/Canada hockey game, will be on MSNBC.

This deserves its own vent, IMHO, because of the Olympics. Also - every other major provider now has this channel (FIOS just added it).

#%#$%#%

There will also be olympic coverage including hockey on USAHD, CNBCHD, Universal HD, and your local NBC channel.

The big game Canada vs USA is on MSNBC. That is the one everybody in North America wants to see.

MSNBC HD just popped-up on FiOS TV this week. I can honestly say there is now a reason to tune into this channel...HOCKEY!!! I sure hope D* provides you hockey fans with a way to watch the big game.

DIRECTV already provides a way for the hockey fans to watch the big game, just not in HD.

It's not as if DIRECTV doesn't even carry MSNBC.

Its not as if they couldn't put it in HD if they wanted to. Yesterday in my email I got the big Olympics ad. What a bunch of prevaricators. I don't say liar because they shade if very finely. They purposely make it sound like they provide the most Olympic HD and they do NOT. I've read very closely and while I wish they would give us MSNBC in HD they will not. That is clear at this point.:(

I guess they've got us all stuck under contract so they do this with impunity. If I just signed up for HD for the Olympics I'd be wanting to get together with the other duped people and find a good lawyer.

Have you ever watched a hockey game in SD? Terrible!!!

And yes, there is the argument that this is how we watched hockey ten years ago, but with today's technology, and our provider being the supposed leader in HD sports, we shouldnt have to.

Oh wait, they cant add MSNBC HD, we have people to sue right now, that's more important.

Willbon on PTI ripped on Directv today for not having MSNBC HD and Hockey in HD. So at least somebody in the Media have lambasted them.

You said it. The difference is that on an HD flat panel monitor larger than 30 something inches, SD looks terrible. 10 years ago almost all of us were still watching on CRTs. Even if you had a large projection TV at that point, you didn't notice how bad it was because you didn't know any better.

Obviously with this Olympic faux pas, DirecTV is not the HD sports leader. Between this and VS, DirecTV has lost its HD Sports edge. Especially if you are a hockey fan. Hockey fans ought to be leaving DirecTV in droves.

There is a reason people are going to Dish. The ads may make people curious, but when they look at the goods, they see that DirecTV is falling behind. I'm sad because I'm locked into a contract. Maybe DirecTV will wow me in a few months with D12, but it is no wonder they are losing to Dish now. All the lawsuits in the world won't change that.

I bought my first HD TV about the time World Cup Soccer was being played. I had VOOM and was looking for anything to watch, and really fell in love with World Cup in HD.

I could see the damn ball and can certainly understand how hockey fans feel about their sport in HD.

But But But... The HD market is saturated....
