whole house dvr & computer control of dvr

I have whole house dvr service. I have one hd receiver the dvr and two std receivers.

I can add programs to be recorded from the hd receiver.
My question is I was told that I could control my dvr from my computer or a mobile app. I can't get my computer to set up dvr recordings, is this possible or do I need to upgrade to another hd box.

Also if I upgrade to another dvr will I be able to record four programs at a time?

you can also log into your account on direct and schedule recordings

I just scheduled a couple of movies through my lap top after I logged in to my account.
I just checked my to do list shows the movie I set to record.
