At this point Becky, you will only get what Voom considers your "local" channels to be.

So far it seems that it is hit or miss with the stock antenna. I live 30 miles from all four major networks (abc.nbc, cbs, fox) and antennaweb.org shows all three as violet. I only have a a signal from cbs and nbc so far. The reason I say it is hit or miss is because theoretically two neighbors could have different results. Based on how far away from the towers you are, I would reccomend that you tell Voom how far away you are and try to arrange for the upgraded antenna before your install date because the installer needs authrization from Voom to upgrade from the stock.

stiles,

The colors refer to the sort of antenna is required. To see what all specific colors mean, click on the color name at AntennaWeb.

As per the violet color, Antennaweb says you will need a large directional antenna with a preamp to receive the those networks. I would contact your installer in advance and discuss the need for a larger antenna -- remind him that the digital broadcast stations are 60-80 miles away, if he doubts the need. The standard Voom antenna is good for only 30-40 miles -- it is highly unlikely that it will get you the network affiliates from Columbus.

You can run a temporary phone line from another room for the installation. Not necessary after that except for PPV. Can get a 25' or 50' extension cord from Radio Shack.
