Played with Windows 7 last night.... works great. I do prefer XP over Vista anyday but I'll give Win7 a chance. It seems pretty quick!

It is much quicker than vista on my dual core htpc with 4gb of ram. I put it on my laptop last night, been migrating my backup files to that partition. I am impressed with it so far. Not quite as quick on my laptop as it was on the tower. I only have 2gb of ram in it though. Been meaning to put 4gb in it, based on the performance of my htpc, this might prompt me to get that done.

I have been running the beta since the day it came out, and installed the rc today. I love it... I have had no real problems to speak of.... works much better than my vista install did.

Yeah 7 ok kind of similar to Vista just a different name a different feature here and there. Overall I been happy with Vista will stay on it until 7 hits the shelf and will just do a upgrade. Overall no rush to get on 7..

Went from XP to Win7 but I do a clean install on a old 320gig drive I had. I will never upgrade an OS..always a clean install for me.

so what do you think digi. is it as good or better than xp?

It seemed pretty quick, but my comparison wasn't really fair as I went from the 32bit version of XP to the 64 bit version of Win7. I probably would have stayed on Win7 but I just rebuilt my new AMD quad core PC on XP and didn't feel like reinstalling all my apps again.

But I was impressed with it...especially the ease of install. I didn't have to install a single driver! Everything was ready to go... it even picked up my wireless HP printer in the back of the house. Should you run out and upgrade? Probably not unless you have this itch to reload your PC anyways.

Even the difference from the Bata to the RC release is impressive. Beta had some flaws in it, but overall I liked it better than Vista. This RC will have me standing in a line when the OS is officiallly released. Very impressed so far...

I started to install this last night and run into a snag right off the bat. I use yahoo email with pop access. I don't think it is called outlook express anymore, maybe windows mail. Anyhow the install wizard said windows mail is not included in this new version. I do have outlook 2007 and have been trying to get it setup before I install W7. The one question I have is will outlook 2007 leave a copy of messages on server? I could not find this option in setup. I need that option because I use more than 1 computer.

Yes, outlook 2007 will leave messages. You go to account settings, double click on your mail account, click on More Settings and then select the Advanced tab. There will be a check box to leave messages on the server.

Is it just a ISO file? then did you burn it to a DVD? I have a spare HD, I might try it, but I don't want to wipe out my XP.

Yep, just an ISO. Burn it to dvd and do a clean install. I had just put another 500gb internal in the tower, so I installed it on that and can dual boot to Vista or 7. On my laptop I just made another partition on the main drive and installed it to that partition. I have my data saved on a different partition, so I can boot to XP or 7 on it and just migrate my data over to it. I did have to reinstall Office 07 and a few other programs.

I'm already using two hard drives, I figured I would have to swap out the main hard drives for either XP or 7.
