Windows Vista Sync Questions

I was hoping someone could answer a few questions for me as I have been outta the loop for awhile.

I have a home network with a desktop and wireless laptop connected. I have everything networked fine and it is working. My question is how can I setup the network to sync my data files? Is microsoft sync a good program or is there something better?

Basically when I bring the laptop home from work I would like all my document files, favorite links, and pictures to be copied to the desktop and vise versa. Thus when connected to the network they would keep each other updated. How is the best way to do this?
