I have winegard 76 cm right now and looking for a second dish. People are saying winegard 76 is the best for its size and it even outperforms other 80cm dishes. How does it compare to Fortec Star 90cm dishes? I certainly like winegard's size and price if the performance is not much worse than Fortec star's 90cm.

The NEW 90cm Fortec dishes we sell now are really nice with good performance. These new dishes now come with rolled edge for extra strength.

Check the gain for comparison. The 90P has a factory spec gain of 39.34 dB at 12.5GHz.

Sadoun is a fantastic sponsor along with many others who advertise here , I really like the fortec dish and new improvements are welcome on any FTA product.

I don't know if DMSI is a Gold Sponsor here , they do make and carry some good products , it be nice to see how their 90cm dish performs vs. the improved fortec brand.

Why go 90cm when you can go 1m? Just about any motor you use can handle both and the 1meter is the max protected by the FCC if you have a HOA issue.

Might as well max out :)

The 100cm Fortec dishes from Sadoun are really solid!

The Winegard 76cm is actually larger than the Fortec 80cm.

Winegard 76cm
Effective aperture 76 cm (29.9 in)
Antenna height 87 cm (34.3 in)
Antenna width 80 cm (31.5 in)
Gain at mid-band
11.2 12.1 12.6
37.6 dBi 38.3 dBi 38.7 dBi
Aperture efficiency 73%
F/D .59

Fortec 80cm
Diameter Short Axis 75 cm
Diameter Long Axis 83 cm
Aperture Efficiency 75% min.
KU – Band Gain @12.5 GHz 38.24 dB
F/D Ratio 0.65

Fortec 90cm
Diameter Short Axis 85 cm
Diameter Long Axis 94 cm
Aperture Efficiency 75% min.
KU – Band Gain @12.5 GHz 39.34 dB
F/D Ratio 0.6

So the Winegard 76cm dish is actually bigger than the Fortec 80cm dish.
Just beware of the dish size and look at the actual dimentions of the dish.

The Fortec 90cm will only give you 39.34 - 38.3x = 1.0dB more gain. (approx.) Significant yes?
