It is only the 3rd inning and the Yankees are already up 9-0.

Here's tonight's starting Red Sox lineup versus the Yankees:

The lineup Sabathia will face:

2B Ciriaco
LF Nava
RF Ross
1B Gomez
DH Lavarnway
C Saltalamacchia
3B Valencia
CF Lin
SS Iglesias

There is a good chance that only Ross will be in any major league starting lineup on opening day next year.

I would take a chance on Cody Ross if Im a team needing an outfielder. I think he has 22 home runs this year.

Bill, at least the Red Sox should try. Save some face, play spoiler, stick it to the Yankees. Why even get off the bus and take the field if your going to play like this?

The 2004 World Series Champions had everything. Guts, determination, speed, quickness and played a 110%. The 2012 Red Sox have none of it. It seems like the 04 team was a 100 years ago.

The Orioles MUST sweep the Rays to force a one game playoff for the AL East title. There is no way that they're getting help from the Red Sux.

Things to get sorted out over the final two days:

AL
* AL East- Yankees magic number is 2
* AL West- Rangers magic number is 2
* HFA- Rangers and Yankees are currently tied for best record at 93-67

NL
* second Wild Card- Cardinals magic number is 1
* HFA- Nationals and Reds are currently tied for best record at 96-64

All 5 AL playoff teams are already decided. Now it is just a matter of which are the WC and which are the division winners.

The A's and Rangers are only a game apart.

Another thing to keep an eye on in the AL: homefield for the Wild Card game. Currently, the O's and A's are tied at 92-68.

Wouldn't it just be the cat's a^%^ if slumping Texas has to settle for a Wild card spot and the incredible A's take the AL West? I say it again...NO ONE has more pressure on them this post season than the Rangers.

That would be fantastic. I was at the Coliseum last night for the playoff clinch. If they win tonight, I may have to go to tomorrow's day game.

Speaking of which, I would hope that either ESPN or MLBN will pick up tomorrow afternoon's Rangers-A's game if Oakland wins tonight. For all intents and purposes, Game #162 would suddenly become a playoff game for the AL West title.
