2008 World Series.......Phillies vs. Rays

This is strange...I see the rain in Philly, it says it's 40 degrees and everyone is all bundled up. We're kinda close to Philly, it's a gorgeous night, 60 degrees and clear here on the Jersey shore...

What's the rule on rainouts in the playoffs?

I think they need to rain delay the game.

I saw the Phils score 2 runs, then watched CHUCK, came back to the game after CHUCK and it's raining and the infield looks like a lake. I can't believe that is safe to play on for baserunners or fielders.

I'll have to pay attention to the mound when they get back from the commercial break - that is the most important piece of the field IMHO because you have pitchers landing and you don't want them landing weird with their spikes full of mud and slip on landing and rip a knee ligament or something.

They said that it's an official game so I guess if the game was rain shorted the Phillies would win. That's a cheap win as far as I'm concerned.

NOW, the game is in a rain delay tied. Chris Myers is interviewing Bob Dupay and he said that the game would be a suspended game and picked up tomorrow even though it's supposed to be lousy tomorrow.

I'll tell you I've been watching wrestling between the game and it looks bad. The pitcher's mound isn't very good and so is the infield. Smartly, it's a rain delay.

It's always lousy in Philly.:D

and just as I post that, the tarp is on.

I"m glad the Rays scored so it wouldn't hand the Phils the world series.

Grandpa Tim is getting stupid again. He's ranting about how he can't see the game being resumed tonight even if the rain lets up.

I think they can resume tonight if the rain lets up because ballparks nowdays have much better drainage than when Grandpa Tim played the game in 1900.

I"m just waiting for Grandpa Tim's rant about how there are too many homers in the game today compared to when he played in the Deadball Era! :D:D:D

Grandpa Tim, it's time to retire. The game is much different than when you played in 1900. I"d rather have a analyst who just retired and has played the game in recent times to know what's going on, not someone who complains about everything because today's game is the not the game that was played in the deadball era.

Don't know how I forgot Mike. Guess he's too young. When you get to be my age you only remember things from long ago, not recently. I keep waiting for Del Unser or Gregg Gross to pinch hit for the Phillies. I'm still pulling for the Phillies but it is hard to watch three straight pop-ups after the first two batters reach. Now that the field is covered I guess I'll have to go to bed. I hope they resume tomorrow because my DVR will shut off at midnight.

And to think, when he worked at ABC, he was universally lauded as a great analyst.

Did Fox ever go back to the ballpark to tell the viewers the game is suspended? All I saw is the news and they are airing episodes of Seinfeld on now.

My local FOX station is automated, they were doing the 5pm news and then it flipped to the FOX Alert screen to affiliates that game was suspended. No actual return to the announcers to tell of the suspension.

This is hilarious. MLB has turned the WS into the sequel to Bull Durham. Will they move the game to Milwaukee like the Cubs-Astros series after Hurricane Ike? I'm really going to laugh if the Rays come all the way back.

ESPN's Jayson Stark is reporting that the Rays actually checked out of their hotel this afternoon, they were expecting to fly back to Tampa after the game win or lose. Now they are scrambling to find new accommodations, the hotel they were staying at is full.

Motel6 here they come. :)
