Practice???

Denver and Detroit are heading in opposite directions in the rankings. It sounds to me like the Pistons need more practice.;)

ESPN - NBA Basketball Power Rankings - National Basketball Association

Direct from the fingers of Marc Stein:

"We had some Samson crack ready about Melo's recent haircut causing his slow start, but that's on hold until it's confirmed his elbow injury (revealed Sunday in Denver's first real scare of the 11-3 Billups era) isn't serious."

"Keeping score? Detroit is now 6-6 with Iverson in the lineup, Iverson has skipped one practice and scored in single digits three times ... and the team has suffered three home losses by 10-plus points in those 12 games."

Of course, Mr. Stein failed to mention Detroit was 4-0 with Billups, while Denver was 1-3 with Iverson.

Hmmm.....I think I am now ready to crown Denver the #1 seed in West and completely eliminate Detroit from playoff competition.....

One thing is for certain...Detroit is a lesser team with Iverson in their lineup and Denver is a better team with Billups, which is exactly what I said would happen. Chauncey Billups is a superior team player and the Pistons were foolish to make this trade...unless Dumars is planning to clean house in the offseason.;)

My ORIGINAL post for this trade:

Well....Chauncey AS A PG, I agree...he is better than IA. As a ALL AROUND PLAYER, sorry, but Chauncey does not measure up. He(as in Dumars) was looking for 2 things, quick points and salary caps space....and he got both from the ONLY player that plays a position in heavy demand, PG, and the player with the most trade value.

Then we appear to be in agreement...the Piston's will struggle without Billups, and Dumars will probably make significant changes in the coming months?

Yes and no....they are NOT gonna struggle because EVERYONE wants to copy what the Heat did a few years ago. Cruise through the regular season and get hot in the playoffs as a 2 or 3 seed. The Pistons will not struggle to make the playoffs. But you will see some new faces on that team when salary cap year comes about.

Totally in agreement on freeing up cap space...just like the Knicks are doing. ;)

Everyone wants to get hot in the playoffs, but the truth is the teams that win in the playoffs usually have home court advantage...which means NOT cruising through the regular season. I doubt the Pistons plan to do better in the post season involved wanting to take a step back in the regular season.

No, I'm not a 'Nuggets are going to win the championship' person. But I do think their chances are better with Billups than they were with Iverson. And I think the Pistons chances this year are worse because of Iverson.

Hi,
he said missing practice was a personal matter...which explains nothing. It could mean he just personally didn't want to go for all we know. All of his teammates were able to put their 'personal matter' regarding the practice aside...except, of course, for Iverson. The rest of the players who did show up will say the right thing publicly, but I'm sure they lost respect for their new 'leader'.

I love how people assume something to happen. I have worked in a professional locker room before...some people assume the lockerroom life is the same as every day life. MOST teams in ALL professional sports have 1 or 2 great players, maybe 2 or 3 good players and the rest a just bodies...more or less. Those "team" most don't give a ratz ass about respect IF their stud player/s gets them a championship. I am sure they are disappointed, but you folks that ASSUME they have lost respect are thinking way too much. Some never had respect for him in the 1st place...so how can you lose something you might have not had?? I am sure the Piston brass spoke to EVERY SINGLE PLAYER as to who and what to expect from Allen Iverson.

Wow, I didn't know the Pistons PR guy came to satellite guys! ;)

Nice spin.

"Allen is a great player," Antonio McDyess said about his new teammate. "We are trying to adjust and I think we need to play within him, not him playing within us. That's just how I feel. We don't want to take anything away from his game. He's such a great player, such a great scorer, we all around him have to make the adjustment."

McDyess: Pistons must adjust to Iverson | detnews.com | The Detroit News

Well, at least there is a plan going forward, but how will it work unless AI shows up to practice?? :D
