2008-09 College Bowl Season

Whenever they absolutely needed a pass to be completed, it was Boeckman that was lined up behind center....and for the most part, he completed almost everything he threw with accuracy and authority....

I agree. But you can't discount the damage Pyror did running. He needed to play QB as well.

If Boeckman played the entire game, I still don't think we win. Boeckman's not nearly as mobile as Pryor. And if we threw more, maybe that would've led to a costly interception. On a few plays, Pryor ran for first downs and extended drives. Pryor was able to get out of dangerous pressure situations by the Longhorns rushing attack. Boeckman is a statue back there and wouldn't have been able to do the same.

Both have their pluses/minuses. If I could take each of their positive traits and mold 1 QB, that would be great. However, I agree with Sandra in the next best option in being to have just played them equally.

That got me to thinking. Since Colt McCoy has the best qualities of Boeckman and Pryor, then if the QBs for each team were reversed, OSU would have won. OSU needs to start recruiting Texas for quarterbacks.

I also want to add my voice to the chorus of"Well Done Buckeye fans".

As a frequent critic of the Big 10 and to a lesser degree of tosu, I have to say they "stood tall" and gave a solid accounting of themselves last night. Could have easily won with just a few different bounces of the ball.

Big 10 was abysmal this Bowl season as usual, but TOSU was not part of those expected results. Instead they played a top notch game.

As for the final rankings thing:
1.Winner of Florida/Oklahoma
2.USC
3.Texas
4.Utah
5.Loser of Florida/Oklahoma

SandraC,

While Leaving Las Vegas is depressing at times, it's hands down Nic Cage's finest work. There isn't a close second anywhere in his movie career to this truly outstanding display of thespian talents.

Great effort also turned in by Elizabeth Shue. I wish she worked more.

An epic flick.

We do just fine recruiting from here in Ohio thank you.

Remember Troy Smith (Cleveland native)?

While I was not looking forward to reading these boards today after the heartbreaking loss by by Bucks last night, I must say I am overwhelmed by the gracious comments. I expected more bashing and rubbing the loss in our faces. I guess I underestimated a few of you. :up

just call it like i see it. and as far as rankings id put utah in the 2 slot. going undefeated has to mean somthing and utah beat ostate who beat usc

I agree! They need to get SOME recognition. What else could they possibly do? Start with Michigan and win, yeah, they sucked this year, but how do you know that when the schedules are made? THey also won at the end in a BCS bowl against a top tier, this year, SEC team that was ranked number one for a good bit of the season. They are for real

keep talking smack florida boy. they only reason you are is because florida does not have to play texas.

Yeah yeah.....Texas is good, I will admit that, but I doubt he is talking "smack" only because they arent playing Texas . Florida has a much right to be in the NC game as anyone, and IMHO would beat Texas by 2 TDs.

Since the Bowl season is almost over with the big one still remaining, time to get in some thoughts on the games so far:

1. Shoveling snow would be more fun than watching the Sun Bowl. What an incredibly boring game!

2. The Rose Bowl, to me, is no longer must-see. It's turned into an annual USC lovefest with those annoying-as-hell Song Girls. Somebody in the Pac 10 needs to grow a set and STOP THIS DESTRUCTION OF THE GRANDDADDY!

3. Now that Notre Dame and Houston snapped their bowl droughts, who inherits the Irish's former role of "program with the longest losing streak in bowl game?"

4. Virginia Tech is a strange program- they somehow win games in spite of their offensive inepitude. Either Frank Beamer is a genius, or the quality of ACC football stinks

5. Who had a worse blow flameout- Georgia Tech or Texas Tech?

6. Ohio State didn't get run out of the building in a BCS game- that's great. Nonetheless, I grow tired of all those talking heads dissing them. If they ever have a long BCS losing streak like Notre Dame or the ACC did, then talk to me.

7. While the Pac-10 impressed me in bowl season, I still wonder what'll happen if someone else has to defend the Rose Bowl. Suppose Ohio State plays Oregon in Pasadena next year, and the Buckeyes win big. Perhaps the Pac 10 is riding SC's coattails?

This just goes to show you that they have WAY to many BOWL games, cut them down to about 20 and make it so you have to have at least a better than .500 record, 2 games over works for me.

This is NOT the Rose Bowl's fault.

If anyone in the Pac 10 was good enough to compete with USC they would not be in this situation.

I'm not that bored, go ahead and look it up if you want, let us know by next season.

5. Who had a worse blow flameout- Georgia Tech or Texas Tech?

This is easy, Texas Tech, if your referring to the Bowl season, if your referring to the regular season, neither, they both were well above thier expectations

6. Ohio State didn't get run out of the building in a BCS game- that's great. Nonetheless, I grow tired of all those talking heads dissing them. If they ever have a long BCS losing streak like Notre Dame or the ACC did, then talk to me.

The media will continue to bash them till they win a few of these BSC games, I didn't think the media hyped this game much considering what you normally see, (I know this is not addressing the question) they often mentioned the game but didn't over do it like they do most. Even the day before and the day of, the media glossed over this game and dedicated thier time to the Fla / OK game.
Unless I just missed it.

Then you'll just get the " Well it wasn't USC (as if it doesn't count)

4. VT is not strange nor does ACC football stink. When it comes to going to bowl games, for some reason, MAYBE it is genius, but Beamer wins. PERIOD. VT needed a couple of usual tie breakers to get in....and guess what, it happened. Sometimes, you get lucky breaks when it comes to tie breakers...ask the Philadelphia Eagles!

6. Ohio State didn't get run out of the building...thats the GOOD NEWS. The BAD NEWS is they still cannout finish a BCS game....hmmm, maybe Ohio State is your answer to #3?;)

7. The Pac-10 HAS been riding the coattails of USC. That has been quite obvious for awhile. BUT, with that being said, they STILL play a more interesting brand of football than the Big 10 any day of the week.;)

I think Texas would be a better opponent for Florida than Oklahoma though.
Texas had their shot. All they had to do was beat a mediocre (according to some) Texas Tech team, and they'd be in the game.

They didn't. OU beat the team that beat Texas, and the tiebreakers fell our way. The Big-12 tiebreaker system is tailored to advance the team that's playing better at the end of the season. Clearly, that was OU. Mac Brown can blow smoke up ESPN's a** all he wants, but Texas blew their chance at the BCS title in Lubbock.

You saw the hurry up offense that Texas used in the 2nd half. That's OU's offense. They do it better than Texas, and Florida's never seen anything like it.

If they run that hurry up offense the entire game, I see that giving Florida's defense fits. That hurry up stuff you guys run in the Big-12 is scary!
