Digital Modulators?

So, I'm wondering, with DTV coming into play, how do I take a CH3 or CH4 signal and inject into a TV setup? With my converter box, I have to turn it off to get the analog to pass through. Are digital modulators going to come out that can take composite video/audio and place it on DTV 3 or (even better) DTV x.x??

I'd love to take the output of my 4DTV or FTA box and place it on an unused DTV channel and merge it with my external arial so it shows up on any TV in the house.

So far I haven't located such a beast! I am looking for a ATSC modulator (agile) as well.

Radio Shack used to sell a synthesized analog modulator that'd go on any VHF or UHF channel, OR any cable channel.
I got some a few years ago when they closed them out.
A buddy used three to pipe three satellite receivers throughout his house WITH his cable signals! -

I think Sadoun still has a similar product.
Two digit LED display, and two buttons to move to a higher or lower channel.

Since your TV has an analog tuner, I don't see a problem.
But of course, your mileage may vary. -

And as WescoPC mentioned, I haven't seen any ATSC modulators either.
Not even one built into a piece of equipment.
So, if there is no mass manufacturing of such a feature for DVD recorders or anything, then there are no custom chips.
Kind of a vicious circle.

This one is gonna suck royally as we wait for it to come out. Every now and then I go on a googlefest for something that does what we want!

The closest thing out there is a ZVbox which modulates onto a QAM cable channel via the VGA and USB output of a computer.

I've asked them about ATSC (8vsb) modulation and they have politely responded telling me that no project is in the works yet due to STUPID licensing issues. One day, we can hope. Plus, if and when it does come out, expect it to work similar to the Zeevee box. The technology is out there!

P.S. If you have QAM cable, the Zeevee box IS worth it but in my case (OTA) it is NOT worth it. Although, I do have an option of buying a Coolsat 8100 for ATSC and then decide to flip to my internal tuner on my TV and leave it defaulted to QAM. Too much of a pain in the arse.

The sadoun model works well, I also have several others attached to each reciever piped throughout the house and combined with my OTA.

Since your TV has an analog tuner, I don't see a problem.

The problem is that some TVs don't make it easy to switch between NTSC and ATSC. Mine makes me rescan all the channels! Switching between ATSC and composite shouldn't be a problem though, so one could split the RF input into a demodulator (i.e. a VCR) and hook that to the TV's composite input.

I have been looking for ATSC modulators for years... wouldn't it be great if you could pump your FTA HD channels thoughout the entire house on your HDTVs? I would even settle with a ATSC 4:3 SD version....

I guess ATSC is much more intensive than NTSC in terms of modulation and digital coding...

I know best buy and Walmart use a device that does this to show the same blueray video on all 100 HD sets they have.

I would prefer a ATSC 100ft houshold transmitter so the antenna could pick it up and it would appear on all the TVs in the house.

the digital modulators have been out for a wile but mainly for commercial rack systems, google NSC, but the price may scare you by time you get the strip an the plug in an power supply, not cheep, but they are their.

here in my home we send 7-channel mixed with antenna to our tvs, but they are analog modulators Channel Pluss 4 port stereo, an a 3 port Channel Vision, but all of tvs here are fairly new an those channel will line up in between the digital channel so it is easy to call them up. but on some of the cheeper digital tvs you have to change to their analog tunner to get to those channels, an that could be a pain, or if some 1 had a converter bow would have to turn if off to get those analog channels in.

also Zenith makes a convertor box that has a analog along with a digital atsc tunner, for some 1 with a modulated system an older tvs this is the only 1 that I would buy.
